Privacy
BallMachina plays without an account. This page lists what the game and its server (ballmachina.com) keep, why, and for how long. Last updated: 2 November 2026.
No cookies, no ads, no trackers
The game sets no cookies, shows no ads and loads no script from other sites: everything comes from ballmachina.com. The links you open from the game do not tell other sites where you came from.
Visit counts
To count visitors without following them, the server turns your IP address into a code with a key that changes every day (a one-way hash; the address itself is not written). At the end of each day the codes and the key are deleted, and only totals remain: visitors, country (from our network provider, Cloudflare), type of device, language, the site you came from, the campaign of the link, and game settings (mode, ball, quality). Totals are kept for 800 days. Database backups keep a day's codes for up to 14 days.
Your profile (optional)
Only for the ranked quick match and the computer challenge: a nickname you choose and a secret recovery code. The server keeps the nickname and a hash of the code (no email, no password, no IP address), your rating and your results (matches, wins, goals, challenge scores). Nicknames are public: rankings, recent matches, live matches, replays. Your profile is kept until you delete it in the game (Ranking › My profile › Delete my profile); backups keep a copy for up to 14 days. Your past online matches then stay in the history without your nickname.
Online matches
For each online 1v1: date, score, the players' nicknames (none for guests) and rating changes; no IP address. While you play, the server uses your IP address in memory only: to limit abuse (too many rooms, failed joins) and for « On my network », where the devices behind the same router see each other for 40 seconds. None of this is written to disk.
Replays
A replay is stored only when a player asks for its link: the match's settings, nicknames, score and moves, and a view counter. Kept for 90 days.
Error and performance reports
The game sends the server automatic reports: errors (message and place in the code), and the quality of matches and of the picture, with technical details of your device (graphics card, screen size, browser, game version). No IP address and no nickname. Daily totals are kept for 800 days, the last 1,000 errors with their details, and grouped problems until 90 days after they are fixed.
Server logs
Like any web server, ours writes an access log (IP address, page requested, previous page, browser), used to run the service and stop abuse, and deleted by the server's log rotation.
In your browser
The game keeps your settings, controls, current tournament and profile (nickname and recovery code) in your browser's local storage, and its own files for offline play. They stay on your device; your profile code is sent to the server only to play ranked. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes them.
